HENSOTHERM® 7 KS HWD Pad

Fire protection solution for electrical installation boxes and power sockets

In general, fire protection walls must not have any openings, but in practice it is sometimes unavoidable to route electrical supply lines through it or to place electrical installation boxes for power sockets or switches. With HENSOTHERM® 7 KS HWD Pads – as a cost-effective alternative to the use of special fire protection boxes – the fire resistance classification of fire protection walls can be restored also when commercially available boxes without fire protection features are used.

HENSOTHERM® 7 KS HWD Pads are made of HENSOTHERM® 7 KS Gewebe 1 mm E (building product ETA 16/0369) and are available as a punched pad 60 x 50 mm with self-adhesive backing, which is matched to the internal dimensions and shape of standard electrical installation boxes. The HENSOTHERM® 7 KS HWD Pads, based on expanded graphite technology, are simply glued into the installation boxes and foam up strongly in the event of a fire and temperature reaching approx. 150 °C. An insulating compact carbon layer is formed under high pressure, thus inhibiting or completely preventing cable fires and the burning of the cable sheaths and insulation. Any cavities created by the installation of the installation boxes in the fire protection wall are sealed by the foaming expanded graphite.

HENSOTHERM® 7 KS HWD pads have been tested in accordance with EN 1366-3 in electrical installation boxes with a diameter of 68 mm in standard, deep and double versions in flexible and rigid walls with a minimum thickness of 100 mm up to EI 120 minutes in combination with power sockets and electrical cables (ETA 20/1306).
