HENSOTHERM® 2K Fire Protection Systems for Steel

Chemically crosslinking fire protection systems for the highest demands on durability,
robustness, corrosion protection and fire resistance

HENSOTHERM® 2K fire protection systems enable structural steel members to achieve fire resistance periods of up to 120 minutes. They are particularly suitable for applications where, in addition to reliable fire resistance, high levels of mechanical robustness, corrosion protection and durability are required.

Typical applications include structural steelwork in industrial buildings, power plants, logistics centres, car parks and chemical facilities, as well as structures exposed to demanding environmental conditions, such as swimming pools, offshore facilities and buildings in coastal locations.

Double the performance – corrosion protection up to C5 very high and fire protection in one system

HENSOTHERM® 2K fire protection systems provide much more than passive fire protection. Depending on the selected system build-up, they can be used in different corrosivity categories up to C5 very high in accordance with DIN EN ISO 12944. In dry internal environments, the primer and top coat may be omitted depending on the required level of protection.

This allows corrosion protection, fire protection and surface protection to be tailored to the specific project and environmental conditions. Permitted coating build-ups and requirements for substrate preparation are specified in the respective Technical Data Sheets.

Long-term protection – assessed intended working life of at least 50 years

HENSOTHERM® 2K fire protection systems for steel offer high resistance to the stresses associated with handling, transport and installation, making them particularly suitable for long-term construction and maintenance strategies.

For use category Z2 in accordance with EAD 350402-00-1106, the systems have an assessed intended working life of at least 50 years according to their respective ETAs. This provides a sound basis for the design of durable steel structures and for the consideration of maintenance requirements and lifecycle costs.

Optimised for off-site application – coat, transport and install faster

HENSOTHERM® 2K fire protection systems are generally applied to structural steelwork under controlled workshop conditions. Depending on the applied film thickness, ambient conditions and selected system build-up, coated steel members may be ready for transport or for application of the top coat as early as the following day.

The high mechanical robustness of the cured coating reduces the risk of damage during handling, transport and installation. Depending on the specified system build-up, coated steel members can subsequently be temporarily stored outdoors or transported directly to site for installation.
