Boiler house in Carlsberg Byen,
Copenhagen (DK)

Patented concrete fire protection for a sustainable district

The boiler house in Carlsberg Byen is an impressive building that plays a central role in the comprehensive redevelopment of the entire neighbourhood. Originally built in the late 19th century, the boiler house served as the central energy supply for the Carlsberg brewery.

However, the refurbishment of the boiler house is much more than just a restoration. It is a transformation that transforms the historic building into a modern space that can fulfil a variety of functions. The aim is to preserve the historical heritage and at the same time enable contemporary uses.

One of the main aspects of the renovation is the restoration of the outer façade of the boiler house. The original brick structure was carefully restored and now shines in new splendour. Traditional techniques were used to ensure that the building retains its historical charm. At the same time, however, modern, energy-efficient elements were also introduced to meet Carlsberg Byen’s ecological standards.

Inside the boiler house, modern spaces have been created that can be used for a variety of purposes. The building’s main hall offers space for events of all kinds, from concerts and exhibitions to corporate events and conferences. The robust structure of the boiler house allows for flexible use and is able to meet the needs of a wide variety of events.

Another important component of the refurbishment is the integration of sustainable technologies. The boiler house now has a modern energy supply system based on renewable energies. This not only reduces energy consumption, but also contributes to reducing CO2 emissions.

The refurbishment of the boiler house in Carlsberg Byen is an example of how historic buildings can be brought back to life through an appealing and future-orientated refurbishment. By combining traditional architecture, modern technologies and sustainable thinking, the boiler house has become a symbol of progressiveness and the preservation of historical heritage. It is a place that delights and inspires both residents and visitors alike.
