Single-component (1C) steel fire protection systems are usually applied directly on the construction site. However, if projects are subject to a tight schedule and the weather does not play along, depending on the season, then our water-based steel fire protection system HENSOTHERM® 421 KS is applied to the steel components in the workshop. Once thoroughly dry and protected with the appropriate topcoat, the steel components can then be transported to the construction site, stored and installed in direct weather conditions.

The system structure for the R 30 steel fire protection on 2,400 m² in this construction project was as follows:

• HENSOGRUND 2K EP primer
• HENSOTHERM® 421 KS intumescent
• HENSOTOP 2K PU topcoat

With this coating structure and application in the factory, it is possible to store and install the coated steel components outdoors exposed to the weather for up to 12 weeks.
