International Parquet – Frankfurt am Main

Completed in autumn 2018, Messe Frankfurt’s Hall 12 – the world’s largest trade fair, congress and event organiser with its own grounds – with a hall height of 12 metres, offers a multi-divisible event area of 33,600 m² on two levels. The special feature in the north foyer is the elliptical pendulum by the Munich designer and lighting designer Ingo Maurer († 21.10.2019).

The wooden ceiling constructions are slats made of birch wood multiplex panels with a cross-section of approx. 110 x 30 mm, the length of the slats is usually 3.60 m, whereby the slats at the degrees and throats are continuously shorter (theoretically tapering to 0). The slats were veneered in ash. A total of approx. 50,000 to 55,000 running metres were coated, which corresponds to an area of approximately 12,000 m². The HENSOTHERM® 1KS INNEN wood fire protection system was installed in a continuous coating system.

The coating structure for the visible surface of the wooden slats consists of the primer Holzgrund AQ and the intumescent HENSOTHERM® 1 KS INNEN for the fire protection of wooden structures indoors. The coating is transparent, so that the surface structure of the wood is visibly preserved. This is followed by the colourless coating varnish HENSOTOP 84 AF.

The substructures were coated with HENSOTHERM® 2KS INNEN schwarz-anthrazit which is used especially for the fire protection of wooden constructions in studio and scenery construction, as well as in this case for substructures, thus saving another operation with a black coating varnish.
