Miqua

„MiQua“ Jewish Museum | Cologne

The construction site in front of the historical City Hall in Cologne has been bustling since February 2021, especially at night. Here, the huge truss girders for the unique building are delivered in nightly special transports and directly assembled. The longest element measures 19 meters in length, is 4.20 meters high and weighs 17 tonnes! The steel structure at the corner of Unter Goldschmied and Portalsgasse is continuing to increase in height day by day over four construction phases.

The steel structure consists of rhombic trusses on the ground floor, composite trusses on the first and second floors, precast reinforced concrete ceilings on the first and second floors and the roof structure, which will eventually be crowned by 15 roof pyramids. In the next step, the precast concrete ceilings will be delivered, lifted into the building by crane and installed. The remaining gaps in the roof structure will then be closed. At the same time, further rhombuses are already being delivered and installed for the ground floor of construction phases 2 to 4. The entire steel structure will later be sealed with transparent glass panels, natural stone slabs and quarry stones from the archaeological excavation.

Protected with HENSOTHERM® 910 KS
The 2C fire protection system HENSOTHERM® 910 KS protects the steel structures of the MiQua, with a surface area of approx.13,000m², with the primer HENSOGRUND 2C EP, the 2C insulating layer-former HENSOTHERM® 910 KS and the topcoat HENSOTOP 2C PU for the coloured design of, among other things, the rhombic structures on the ground floor.. The prescribed fire resistance time of R30 and the corrosivity category C5 are achieved with this system construction.

HENSOTHERM® 2C fire protection coatings are 100 % solvent-free / non-VOC, free of halogens, of alkyl phenol and benzyl alcohol and are AgBB-tested for VOC emissions from interior-relevant building products. HENSOTHERM® 910 KS is on the Cologne List and can therefore be applied without restrictions. HENSOTHERM® 2C fire protection systems are very suitable for sustainable building in accordance with DGNB specifications.

HENSOTHERM® 2C fire protection systems are applied in the workshop and are already optimally protected against mechanical stress and the weather after 24 hours drying time. This means that steel elements that have already been coated can be stored outdoors and/or transported directly to the site of use and installed there so as to save time.
